Well, I made it back to work today – all the way until 2:30. But now the coughs have got me again and I’m tired…we’ll see if tomorrow can go until 3!

Hey! Guess What! I left the house today. Twice! This is progress, for sure.
Katy was very jealous of Lucy’s appearance on the blog last week, so it’s her turn now. (Did you know dogs can get jealous? It’s scientific fact. Check it out – http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=97944783).

Hi. I’m a big dummy, but I love you all lots and lots and lots!
Here’s to feeling a little better and the start of a brand new week tomorrow!

WIP Wednesday – 1/7/09
January 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment
It’s hard to believe it’s already almost the second week in January – time has gotten a bit away from me while I’ve been buried under blankets and beat down by sinus pressure.
I’m pretty close to finishing my first real sweater (for me), so I’m using the last pic of that I took for WIP Wednesday.

It’s a bottom-up baseball style raglan. This pic doesn’t show it, but one sleeve has stripes in the same color as the body because I was not going to have enough yarn otherwise. All that’s left is to seam it – I haven’t been up to that this week, but I’m hoping I can finish it off this weekend. After that, I’ll be showing off my first FO of the year!

Well, that lasted a whole two days.

At least pressure’s off on that whole post every day thing. Funny how being unable to hold your head up for more than 4 minutes at a time will help you forget about blogging. Hopefully, though, I’m on the mend, because this has been really ridiculous.

Lucy sez, “Mom has an upper respiratory infection so she’s just laying there watching football. That means I’m in charge and I’m off to raid the kibble bucket!”

Hello, 2009!

Hey, look! It’s 2009! How did that happen?
Let’s be honest – I gave up on the blog last year. But here’s my New Year Resolution: I am going to try to post something every day, because I miss it. There will still be knitting, of course, but I think I got bogged down in that and quit blogging because I couldn’t think of anything to say so many times. But there will be other things, too. Santa brought me a sewing machine, so I’ll surely be showing off some of that (…once I actually learn how to use it…). I’d like to take more photos, too. Somedays it might just be a quote, or a song lyric that sticks out to me – but I hope for it to be something meaningful.
After all, this is the year I turn 30, so why not celebrate something every day?

What to do with no camera? Meme!
February 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment
So, my camera is very, very dead. I thought it might have been the battery, so I bought a new battery. Alas, it is not the battery. It is the camera. It is dead. So, no new pictures of knitting – although Ravelry is mostly updated with old photos, so go there. But because I wanted to blog something (and also, I know you were all desperate to hear from me), I am stealing a meme from Nathania.
(Disclaimer: I did skip a couple of the questions, because I can.)
1) What’s your first name?

2) What’s your favorite food?

3) Where did you go to school?

I would like to say at this point that my undergrad school is Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. There are no photos on Photobucket. There are other reasons (*cough* it went co-ed *cough*) that I am choosing to claim Georgia State (where I got my Masters) instead.
4) What’s your favorite color?

5) Who are you listening to right now?

6) Favorite movie?

7) Favorite book?

Favorite Disney princess?

9) Favorite drink?

10) Where’s your dream vacation?

11) What’s your favorite desert?

12) What do you want to be when you grow up?

Technically, I would like to be a statistician for a baseball team. Apparently there’s no one out there who’s tagged anything on photobucket as “baseball+statistics.” Go figure. (I said figure. How punny of me. When you’ve stopped admiring my wit, you may continue. Ha.)
13) What do you love most in life?

14) One word to describe yourself?

Your turn – go!

In which I remember the blog.
January 7, 2008 · 2 Comments
It has come to my attention that I have a blog. It has also come to my attention that said blog has not been updated in, oh, roughly 4 months. Woops!
I blame many things. First there was buying my first house (stress) and moving into that house (stress). That ran right into the holidays, and as a result of the moving messing with my holiday knitting schedule, my holiday knitting schedule messed with my blogging. And then, you know, the great time-suck Ravelry.
But now I’m moved, unpacked, done with holiday knitting (almost), and starting to normalize, I’ll try and get back to the business of entertaining you all with tales of stash enhancing, startitis, late-night finishing, and so forth. There have also been several FO’s, which I will get to in a series of Holiday Knitting Round-Ups. However, in the event that you are in Ravelry and positively cannot wait a moment longer to see them, they are updated here http://www.ravelry.com/projects/joymichelle.
If you’re not in the Rave, here’s some proof that I actually did knit while I was on blogging hiatus:
These are knit in the Moorish Lattice stitch pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks, knit for the lovely Gale. Yarn is Reynolds Soft Sea Wool, knit on Size 2 bamboo dpn’s. Backdrop is my new backyard.
On that note, I wish you all a Happy New Year, friends ~ here’s to an amazing 2008 for all!

Back With a Bang!
September 6, 2007 · 1 Comment
I had no idea it had been so long since I posted last. It’s just that it’s been too hot to breathe – much less blog. My Atlanta people can back me up. After the long hot train ride, and the taking the dog out in the hot, the extra steps to the computer were just too much. This week is the first full week we’ve had in the last month where we haven’t hit 100 at least once, if not several days in a row.
I have been knitting, though. There are projects to finish and projects to start, and I can’t let a little heat wave get in the way! Just to prove it, I’ll show you an FO…the Firework Jaywalkers! (now read the title again. get it? back with a bang? har.)
See? Those are my feet they are on. Which means they fit! And they’re all matchy! W00t!
I’ve also finished 3 more socks (1 more pair and 1 single sock), as well as a scarf, a cardigan for my baby cousin and a BRIGHT! PINK! bag for his sister – FO posts forthcoming on those, I promise – I just have to take some pics.
Since I’ve got nothing else, let’s talk about other things that make , like these:
- I haven’t been taking pictures, by my friends Mandi and Diane have, and I’m proud! Check it out – http://media.freep.com/roseylackey/index.html and http://media.freep.com/respect/index.html…
- My boys won, and looked good in the process. (Have I mentioned it’s FOOTBALL! season?)
- It’s not like you knitters haven’t already all seen this, but really? I have never loved knitting so much.
I’ve missed this place – hope you are all well!
